“Th e survey and research activities would focus on selected priority sites, while the National Parks would contribute to the design, analysis, implementation and publication of the collaborative research output,” he said. “The research will equip us to protect, restore and make sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertifi cation, and halt and reverse land degradation and biodiversity loss,” he stressed. Goni said the partnership would encourage development of scientifi c programmes, research capacity building and cultural exchange between Nigeria and China.

He stated that researchers from the Chinese Institute led by Prof. Jing Che are already at Gashaka Gumti, situated in both Adamawa and Taraba States for a fi eld survey on biodiversity, zoological and botanical research.
