The senator representing Adamawa South, Binos Dauda Yaroe, has trained another batch of 250 youths across the 9 local governments that make up his senatorial district on solar technologies.
The training marks the second time the lawmaker would embark on this kind of gesture aimed at tackling the challenges of poverty and unemployment in his senatorial district.
Declaring the training open Tuesday in Numan local government, Senator Binos, represented by his campaign director general, Mr. Katawan Boniface said this decision was borne out of his genuine concern to empower the youths of his senatorial district, to enable them become self reliant so as to be useful to themselves, families as well as contribute their quota to the development of their society.
He noted that the beneficiaries were selected based on merit, without recourse to ethnic, tribal or religious considerations, with each of the 9 local government areas producing 28 beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries would undergo rigorous training in all aspects of solar technologies, which include installation, maintenance and repairs.
According to him, this training would also open the window of opportunities for his people within and outside the country, taking into consideration the fact that the world is going solar.
The senator added that some of those trained on solar technologies last year had gotten good jobs with one of them, Engr. Bokono Bernard Nathan, travelling to Russia this week on scholarship programme, courtesy of the certificate obtained from the training.
The chairman Senate Committee on States and Local Governments further explained that plan was underway to roll out empowerment programme for people living with disabilities in his senatorial district, which will come into fruition very soon, and assured the people of his commitment to improve their living conditions in line with his campaign promises and their expectations.
Earlier, Adamawa state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Neido Geoffrey Kofulto, said the gesture would go a long way to alleviating poverty in line with the Ahmadu Fintiri administration.
