Governor Jibrilla Abubakar Bindow of Adamawa state has chided his critics, saying that those who insisted on criticising his administration for every step taken to better the lot of Adamawa people were wasting their time.
Bindow, who was addressing a press briefing organised by the Ministry of Finance on the bailout, said such critics could neither intimidate nor cow his administration to toe their line which, he stressed, was against the interest of the state.
“If you (critics) see me as monkey, I see you as banana,” he said.

He said administration would remain focus to its commitment to serve the people and would not be cowed by anyone.
The governor added that those trying to blackmail his administration for selfish reasons needed to know that they would fail as he would never allow himself to be pushed about by anyone or group to work against the larger interests of Adamawa people.

While urging for support and cooperation of the people of Adamawa for his administration to succeed in the onerous task of transforming the state, the governor directed the Ministry of Finance to begin the immediate payment of all outstanding workers’ salaries and entitlements.
“I want to direct the Commissioner of Finance to ensure that workers start getting their alert of payments without any further delay.”
Bindow re-iterated his administration’s commitment to re-engineer the civil service to live up to expectation in the renewed move to transform the state.
In his speech, the Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Mamood Sali, said the state had secured a bailout of N7.2 billion which had been release into its account for payment of all outstanding salary liabilities, pension and leave transport grants as well as other staff claims for both state and local governments.
