Benue South leader distances self from APC campaign council

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue state, Alhaji Usman Abubakar, popularly known as Young Alhaji, Sunday, distanced and disassociated himself from the APC Governorship Campaign Council.

Young Alhaji is regarded in the APC as the leader of the party in the Benue South senatorial district, otherwise called Zone C.

However, recently, he is believed to be having some disagreement with some stakeholders in the zone over the selection of the deputy governorship candidate, a situation which allegedly resulted to burning of his house located in Otukpo.

Following the constitution of the campaign council of the party, in which his name was included, Alhaji Abubakar in a statement he  signed and made available to journalists  through his media consultant, Chris Ochapa, dissociated himself from the campaign team, saying the decision had to do with his conscience.

He said, having been attacked among other things, he could no longer allow himself to be dragged into what he described as “fallacious and pretentious foolage.”

The statement reads: “This is to inform the general public of Benue State political environs, particularly Benue South APC that my attention has been drawn to a publication of list of names of Benue state APC Governorship Campaign Team for the 2023 general elections which contains my name, Alhaji Abubakar, on number 32 as member of the advisory committee.

“In as much as I Alhaji Maishanu popularly known as Young Alhaji still remain a registered and card carrying member of APC Benue state, I regrettably wish to distance and disassociate myself from such responsibility as it has to do with my conscience.”
