Benue: Police raid criminals’ hideout, arrest 30 suspects 


The Benue state Police command Tuesday said it has arrested 30 suspected criminals and arm manufacturers in the state within two weeks.


Commissioner of Police, Benue state command, George Chuku, said the command recently clamped down on some criminal elements as a result of operation carried out by the police in collaboration with other security agencies in the last two weeks of his resumption.


He said a total of 15 arms were recovered, 2 kidnap victims rescued and 15 suspects arrested, 13 robbery suspects and 3 cultists were also arrested, making a total of 30 suspects.  

He said as Christmas and New Year celebrations are near, the command is currently carrying out operations to secure the state during the period.


He noted that black spots are being raided and operational teams deployed to various local government areas to assist the DPOs to maintain peace during the season. 
“I want to use this opportunity to remind us that Christmas and new year celebration are fast approaching.
“The command is currently carrying out operations to secure the state during this period. Black spots are being raided and operational teams deployed to various LGAs to assist the DPOs. 
“It is also important for everybody to be security conscious and cooperate with the police by giving useful and timely information that will assist the command in fighting crime,” he stated.
