Benue: Police nab 3 gun manufacturers, 9 kidnappers/armed robbery suspects 


The Benue state Police command Wednesday said it has arrested two persons specialised in arms manufacturing and one other arm dealer from Anambra state.


Similarly, the command said it has during raid on various criminal hideouts arrested 5 armed robbers, and 4 kidnappers/bandits who have been terrorising some communities in the state.
Briefing newsmen Wednesday in Makurdi, the Commissioner of Police, Benue Command, Emmanuel O. Adesina, said in the last three weeks, the command has been able to carry out some reforms in the area of deployment and re-orientation of officers on the need to be professional in carrying out their duties. He said the orientation led to several achievements recorded within the period.


He noted that within the  period under review, police from the command received  information about arm deals which was going on at Agu, Vandeikya LGA, and Police detectives were deployed to gather intelligence and arrest suspects involved.


He added that on 7/2/2024 at about 18:30hrs, one Precious Ebuka Chukwu ‘m’ of Onitsa Anambra State was arrested at Agu in Vandeikya LGA and on the spot, search conducted on the suspect, led to the recovery of three (3) locally made berretta pistols.


He said the suspect led the team to the hideout of his regular suppliers and one Tyav Wuese ‘m’ and Tyav Terkuma ‘m’ blacksmiths of Adikpo, Kwande LGA who specialize in fabricating guns were arrested.
