Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state Thursday announced approval of six new appointments to his government, effective immediately.
The appointees are expected to bring their wealth of experience and skills to their respective roles, contributing to the development of the state.
A statement by the Chief Press secretary to the Governor Tersoo Kula named those appointed to include, Prof. Daniel Amine Director General of the Benue Geographical Information System (BENGIS), who is a lecturer at Joseph Sawuan Takar University in Makurdi, with over 20 years of experience in technical and engineering graphics.
“Mrs. Afaityo Rebecca, General Manager of the Community and Social Development Agency. Afaityo has extensive experience in community development, having served as a Village Extension Officer and worked with various organizations.
“Mr. Michael Uper, Executive Secretary of the Benue State Sports Marketing and Lottery Board. Uper is well-versed in sports marketing, having worked as a consultant in Niger and Lagos states.
“Dr. Erdoo Mongol, Managing Director/CEO of the Benue State Geo-Mining Company Nigeria Limited. Mongol is a seasoned geoscientist with over 14 years of experience in mining, mineral exploration, regulation, and climate sciences.
“Surveyor Tsokar Terfa, Technical Advisor to the Governor on Land matters. Terfa is a seasoned lands administrator, having served as the Surveyor General of Benue State from 2021-2023.
“Mr. Stephen Utah, Executive Secretary of the newly established Bureau for Solid Minerals. Utah was previously the Principal Special Assistant (PSA) to the Governor on Solid Minerals,” the statement noted.
The statement also added that the governor has also approved the separation of the solid minerals department from the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals, upgrading it to a Bureau for Solid Minerals.
