Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state has sworn in 14 new commissioners with an urge to avoid corrupt and other sharp practices that could dent their integrity.
While swearing in the commissioners yesterday, the governor reminded them that his administration has zero tolerance for corruption and warned that anyone caught in corrupt tendency would be shown the way out of the cabinet.
He said the commissioners were appointed to serve the people and not to lord it over other citizens, adding: “You must truly thrive to serve the people more than you want to be served. Our administration will continue to put the people first.”
He said the administration would not tolerate any form of laxity and disrespect for established rules and regulations, adding that government was determined to ensure meaningful development in the state.
Bello expressed concern over the underground politics that followed his nomination of commissioners as a result of which four of the nominees could not be screened by the state House of Assembly.
He however thanked the Speaker of the state Assembly, Amhed Marafa and the state lawmakers for ensuring the confirmation of the 14 commissioners that were sworn in, adding that the remaining four would be sworn in when they scaled the hurdles.
