Bello confers Prime Minister May FCT honorary citizenship

By Abdullahi Muhammad Abuja The British Prime Minister Theresa May yesterday arrived Abuja as part of her tour to three African countries of South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya.
Upon her arrival, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, conferred the Prime Minister with the honorary citizenship of the City of Abuja.
Conveying the goodwill and esteemed regards of the government and people of Nigeria to a delighted May, Malam Bello made a presentation of the key to the City of Abuja to the British Prime Minister.
In a brief reception, the Nigerian Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Hon Khadija Ibrahim, received the Prime Minister on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari as well as other top officials of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
This was Theresa May’s first visit since she assumed office as the visit was used to sign security and defence agreements with President Muhammadu Buhari, which were initiated during the last meeting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London in April.
The British Prime Minister leaves Abuja for Lagos where her central message during her brief stay in Nigeria’s commercial capital is expected to focus on a renewed efforts at ending human slavery and immigration.
