Bello commiserates with flood victims’ family

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has commiserated with the family of Mr Kenneth Nkem Nwoga and two of his children over their demise in a fl ash fl ood that occurred last week in Lokogoma. Th e minister, who was represented on the condolence visit led by the DirectorGeneral of the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Alhaji Abbas Idris, described the death of Nwoga and his two children as “heartrendering,” adding that he was deeply touched when he received the news of the death of three members of the same family in the “unfortunate fl ood incident.”

He urged the family to remain strong in the face of the tragedy, prayed Almighty God to grant eternal rest to the victims and also give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Bello, therefore, directed the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and the Mass Housing Department to undertake a comprehensive study of the infrastructural challenges facing the Lokogoma district, “particularly roads, bridges and drainages and come up with an implementation plan to address the issues.”

Mr Ijeoma Kenneth Nwoga thanked the minister for the visit, adding that the visit was very soothing and had boosted their spirits. She said the family had six children, including the two, Master Prestige, 9, and Miss Winner, 13, who died along with their father. Meanwhile, the minister has appealed to residents of the area to remain calm and support the FCT Administration in its eff ort towards fi nding permanent solution to the issue of fl ooding and other challenges in the area.
