In order to curb child begging associated with the ‘Almajiri’ education system in the state, the Bauchi state government has summoned Qur’anic teachers in the state to rub minds on how to find solution to it.
The Director-General, Bauchi state Tsangaya Education, Sayyadi Aliyu Dahiru Bauchi, said the development followed the recent ban on begging by the Kano state government, adding that participants would dwell on three vital issues, areas, or modus operandi that were likely to find solutions to the menace.

He noted that Bauchi “has now become the Centre of ‘almajiri in Northern states as a result of insurgents’ activities in some cities of the North.”
Sayyadi Aliyu commended the Bauchi state government for the financial support it had been giving to Qur’anic teachers, adding that with the increment of Tsangaya teachers in the state to 10, 000, the government “will from May, this year, spend N50 million monthly as allowances on the basis of N5, 000 per beneficiary.”

He urged Nigerians not to relent in offering prayers to the Almighty God for the peace of the nation, saying, however, that “anything that has a beginning must have an end.”
Aliyu also unveiled plan by the state government to introduce agricultural farming into the Tsangaya almajiranchi system with a view to make the Tsangaya teachers self-reliant.

Those who spoke at the meeting included Ustaz Abubakar Ibrahim Rariya who he urged wealthy individuals in the society to support the teaching of the Holy Qur’an.
Blueprint reports that a communiqué is expected at the end of the meeting which will serve as a guide to the state government in finding solutions to the problems of almajiri begging in the state.
