Bayero pledges support for Kano police boss

Emir of Kano, Alhaji (Dr.) Ado Bayero, has expressed the determination of the Kano Emirate Council to assist the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Aderenle Shinaba, in maintaining security and protecting lives and property.
Making the pledge while receiving the New Commissioner of Police who paid him a courtesy visit, the monarch said, nothing was more precious than peace, adding that the Kano Emirate Council was up and doing in preaching the gospel of peace in times of turbulence.

Bayero, who described the visit as “timely,” stressed the need for constant synergy between security agencies and the communities, saying that the task of bursting crimes could only be achieved through concerted efforts in forging a close collaboration.
Speaking earlier, Shinaba said he came on board with the mission to combat the most abominable crimes in the state, and expressed optimism that with the cooperation of the traditional institution, “the feat is achievable.”

He said: “I have a strong conviction that, with the active support of the Kano emirate council my mission is possible.  I have immense regard for the Emir knowing his antecedents as an apostle of peace.”
Shinaba said the police command had no safe haven for hoodlums and other undesirable elements wreaking havoc on the society, stressing, however, that “in an ideal democratic setting the issue of peace and the protection of lives and property must reign supreme.”
