Bayelsa: Diri sworn in as Governor amidst protests, dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed

Senator Duoye Diri has finally been sworn in as the Governor of Bayelsa state.

Also, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has taking over as deputy governor of the state.

Before the short ceremony, Police in the state police declared a dusk-to-dawn curfew.

The curfew takes effect today Friday and will last till Monday between 8pm and 6am daily.

Addressing journalist in governmental house the capital city on Friday during the inauguration ceremony the state Commissioner of Police, Uche Anozia, said the decision was taken at a crucial intra-agency security meeting and was aimed at curtailing the breakdown of law and order.

He said the decision was taken “to avert some nasty experiences encountered.

“The police will enforce the dusk-to-dawn curfew and anyone found wanting will be dealt with.”
