The Bauchi State Shari’a Commission says it has mapped out plans to sanitise zakkat and endowment processes in the state.
Chairman of the commission, Malam Hamisu Ya’u, stated this when he appeared before the state House of Assembly Committee on Religious Affairs for the 2025 budget defence.
Ya’u noted that with the support of the state government, the commission has addressed some bottlenecks hindering the operation of Zakkat collection and disbursement.
He said in the 2025 fiscal year, the commission will update all its operational procedures to stand the test of time, adding that the HISBAH unit of the commission is set to be an independent body after the passage of a bill which is currently before the House of Assembly.
In his remarks after the budget defence, the executive secretary, Christians Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr Ibrahim Gwallang, said all arrangements had been concluded for this year’s pilgrimage to Jerusalem and appreciated the support by the state governor, Bala Mohammed.
