The Bauchi state government has assured the indigenous students that all pending scholarship award would be settle soon.
Governor Bala Mohammed made this known while addressing leadership and members of the National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS) who were at the Government House, Bauchi to congratulate him on his victory at the Supreme Court.
Governor Bala, who noted that he granted approval for the disbursement of the scholarship, wondered why some of the students were yet to receive their entitlements and appreciated the students for the solidarity visit with a pledge to do more for their welfare.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, the governor directed relevant stakeholders, including the Commissioner of Education and the Treasury Division of the Ministry of Finance to investigate the reason for the delay in the process with a view to addressing the pending issues.
Speaking on behalf of the students, NUBASS National President, Comrade Adam Muhammad Tukur, congratulated the governor for the victory and emphasised the need for the state government to consider addressing the plight of the affected students.
According to him, about 30 percent of the students studying within and outside the state were yet to receive the scholarship despite the governor’s approval and therefore assured the support of all the indigenous students to his administration.
