Bauchi: Sen Buba seeks justice for slain charcoal seller, injured constituents 

The senator representing Bauchi South, Shehu Umar Buba weekend sought justice for slain charcoal seller and injured constituents.

Buba made the announcement when he paid a condolence visit to the family of a charcoal seller who was allegedly killed by some members of local security outfit hunters at Zaranda community and tasked concerned authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“This killing is unfortunate. The innocent people were going about their lawful business before they were attacked in Zaranda by a group of militia led by one Shayi,” he stated.

Buba said he would take action to ensure that the deceased and the injured person got justice.

Police had said that it gathered from the local residents that a charcoal dealer was arrested by members of a quasi-security outfit, specifically the Nigerian Hunters Forestry and Security Service and resulted in “sporadic firing (of gun)” by the hunters.

“This incident led to the serious injury of 35- year- old Abubakar Yahaya, 20- year- old Hussaini Yunusa and 16- year- old Yayangida Hussaini, all from Zaranda Gari village via Toro LGA.

They were promptly taken to the Primary Health Care Center Zaranda Gari, where unfortunately, Abubakar Yahaya succumbed to his injuries,” Ahmed Wakil, spokesman of Bauchi Police command said in a statement.
