Bauchi emir tasks govts on quality education

Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Suleman Adamu, has called on governments at all levels to seek ways to improve the quality and standard of education in the country in order to cope with the emerging global challenges.
The Emir made this call in Abuja recently at the 6th annual congress of the Association of Bauchi State Indigenes residing in Abuja (ABASI), with the theme: ‘Education a key to Societal Development.’
The emir said, sound and qualitative education system is the driving force of any society. Represented by the member representing Bauchi local government at the National Assembly, Shehu Aliyu, the emir noted that Nigeria needed to present and project itself to cope with the emerging challenges by leveraging on the education system, which is the driving force of society.
He said: “If education is what refines human kind by delivering their lives meaningfully, productively, responsibly in society, then every society requires the best quality education that can guarantee a complete emancipation of humankind.”
Aliyu also posited that, there could be no better development without quality education, adding that it is a prerequisite for sustainable development.
Speaking earlier, chairman of the association, Mallam Salisu Bello, stated that the theme of this year’s congress is aimed at reminding the people and the government of their responsibilities in tackling the challenges of education in the country and Bauchi state in particular.
He called for synergy between the government and individuals. “Bauchi state is always back ward in terms of WAEC and NECO there must be a way out,” he said.
According to him, human capital development is a key aspect which is used in broadening the horizon of nations because the human embodies expertise. This is impacted through teaching which in turn affects industry and society’s progression.
Blueprint reports that the 6th annual congress was attended by hundreds of residents in Abuja from Bauchi among whom was the former Register of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Mallam Ahmad Almustapha, Prof Musa Maisamari and Idris Bala of NNPC.
