Bauchi: Bala tasks LG caretaker chairmen on judicious handling of finances

Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed, Wednesday, swore in the newly appointed caretaker committee chairmen in the 20 local government areas of the state with a charge to them to provide good governance at the grassroots.

Addressing the appointees shortly after their oath of office at Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall, Bauchi, the governor said they must strive to justify the confidence reposed in them by rededicating themselves to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people through effective and efficient service delivery.

Governor Bala told the caretaker chairmen that his administration attaches great importance to probity, accountability and strict adherence to due process in governance, hence the need for them to be judicious in handling the finances of their local governments.

He specifically directed them to pay special attention to the improvement of internally generated revenue (IGR) of their local government areas, so as to complement what is given to them from the federation account.

The governor warned all the local government caretaker committees that the present administration has no place for corrupt, disloyal, indolent and incompetent officials and as such they should be absolutely loyal to the administration in the state by being totally committed to its objectives.

“For the avoidance of doubt, let me clearly state that I will not hesitate to remove any chairman found wanting or being disloyal to the government or our great party, the PDP.

“I therefore urge the caretaker committee chairmen to work hand in hand with their councilors and managements, and cooperate with the security agencies, traditional rulers, religious and party leaders, as well as other stakeholder in their domains in order to impact positively on the lives of the electorate.”
