Barau urges NGOs to focus on youth, women empowerment to fight poverty

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin,  Sunday called on public-spirited Nigerians and nongovernmental organisations operating in the country to focus more on promoting the empowering of youth and women.

He said it would serve as the catalyst for sustainable socio-economic development.

The lawmaker, represented by his special adviser, Special Duties, Alhaji Musa Ladan, spoke at the launch of the Titi Tomori-Ponnle (TTP) Foundation at an auditorium of Osun State University, Osogbo.

Barau noted that the organisations could support and collaborate with government in the task of nation-building and service to humanity.

He said: “I want to commend the founder of TTF Foundation, Her Excellency, Mrs. Grace Titi Tomori-Ponnle, a former deputy governor of Osun state for establishing the foundation.”

He described the initiative as strategic and capable of contributing to entrepreneurial skills development and poverty reduction in the country.

This, he noted, was in line with the Renewed Hope aspirations of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
