Enyimba FC’s technical adviser, Zachary Baraje, has said his side are in dire need of quality strikers.
The reigning Cup holders are fifth on the log on 29 points five points behind leaders, Kano Pillars at the end of first term proceedings.
Baraje said the People’s Elephants habour the highest number of strikers but no goalscorers, stressing that is the challenge he must sought out before the commencement of the second term.
“We’ve resumed training trying to fashion out a solution to our inability to score goals from the numerous chances we create in every game.
“It’s a puzzle why the strikers we’ve in our midst have severally failed to deliver the goods at the right time.
“We’ve always created chances, conversion of the chances has been our biggest headache.
“And I’ve been wondering why top strikers who excel elsewhere once they’re in Enyimba the reverse will be the case and when you loan them out again they start performing.
“I’ve been wondering whether it’s pride or complacency but I don’t want to continue dwelling on lamentation I’m going headlong to tackle the problem as well as proffer solution.
“I know I’ve too many strikers but fewer goalscorers and I’m determined to make more goalscorers out of the strikers in our midst.
“I’m seriously on the assignment right now. I’ll equally bring in one or two goalscorers to strengthen the ones I’ve in the camp.
“Once we succeed in solving the goalscoring headache, Enyimba will be the team to beat in the second stanza,” said the former El-Kanemi Warriors coach to supersport.com.
Baraje said the side performance in the first term was not entirely bad but insisted they want far better performances in the second term.
“Of course, we want to do better than we did in the first round and that informed the decision to start training in earnest for the second term.
“We’re working assiduously hard to correct the hitches that weighed us down in the past for enhanced performance in future.
“The first stanza performance wasn’t entirely bad but we understand we can always do better,” said Baraje.
Enyimba did not grant their players mid-season break.
