The Kano state High Court presided over by Justice Farouk Lawal has adjourned its sitting to June 12, this year, for the arraignment of a female bank worker, Amina Magaji, who was alleged to have forged the 25 cheques leaflets belonging to the Emir of Kano.
When the case came up yesterday for arraignment, the defence counsel, Barrister Tajuddeen Funsho, urged the court to adjourn the matter in compliance with the Kano State Criminal Procedure Practice Direction, which provides 10 days to the accused person to have charge before proper arraignment in court.

Funsho also argued that his client was served on May 14, this year, which is the seventh day from the date they received the charge from the prosecution, saying that “the matter is not yet ripe for arraignment.”

When the court asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) counsel, Barrister Saad Hannafi, he said had not objected the submission of the defense counsel.
Justice Farouk thereafter granted administrative bail to the accused person on the ground that she would be reporting to the EFCC office every Monday before arraignment.
