The Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, Professor Dan Bala Danju said the bank has disbursed N850 Million to about 6548 Farmers in Jigawa state while more are going to be served with the loan to improve their agricultural production.
This was stated while responding to questions from reporters by the Managing Director of BOA after undertaking a tour of facilities financed through loan by the Bank as well as paying courtesy calls on the Emir of Dutse Alhaji Mohammadu Sanusi and the Emir of Hadejia Alhaji Abubakar Maje in their respective Palaces recently.
According to Professor Danju that the new management of BOA has deemed it right to go round the state and access the facilities made available through loan to farmers and 3Brothers Nigeria Limited Hadejia with the view of given useful advices on how the situation can be improved in order to serve the teeming populace effectively.
The MD said he was fully satisfied with the equipment, manpower, products and management of the 3Brothers Rice Mills Nigeria Limited Hadejia. Saying that the company obtained loan from BOA to the tune of N350 Million to equip and improve its operational standard among others.
He further said that the loan was given to 3Brothers company not too long ago, therefore the assessment proper would start after three years of issuance of the loan but at the moment, the company is trying to justify the confident BOA has on it by producing good and polish rice.
However, he solicited the assistance of the Emir of Hadejia to direct his District Heads to inform their subjects on the importance of collecting loans from BOA, ranging from N150, 000.00 to over N200,000.00 for individuals farmers.
Adding that amount such as N500 Million can be collected from the Bank by companies in order to increase the standard of operation on the farms both on small and large scale farming activities in the state.
Responding the Emir of Hadejia Alhaji Abubakar Maje thanked the management of BOA for the tour. Saying Jigawa state has over 70 to 80 percent of Hedeja/Jama’are rivers passing through it therefore there is need for every farmer in the state to collect the loan and improve as well as enlarging their farming activities.
