Bandits attack 2 LGs in Zamfara, kill 3, kidnap three others

Group of bandits Wednesday attacked Maru and Zurmi local government areas of Zamfara state.

A resident of Maru town identified as Malam Musa Ibrahim Maru told our correspondent via telephone interview that the bandits besieged the town around 11:00 pm, killed one person, kidnapped three during the invasion.

According to him, the bandits spent more than two hours operating in the town.

“It took them over two hours operating in the town and as I am speaking to you now, many residents mainly women and children have fled from the town for their safety.

In Zurmi town, reports indicate that the bandits besieged the town at around 10:00 pm Wednesday in their attempt to kidnapped the Emir of Zurmi Alh. Bello Muhammed Bunu.

Resident of the area, Malam Mande Musa Zurmi, told Blueprint in a telephone conversation that, the bandits open fire on the palace of the emir and the residence of former military administrator of Nasarawa state, Col. Bala Mande during the attack.

He further hinted that the emir has been taken away to Gusau for safety.

According to him, the bandits killed three people, adding that three persons were also being kidnapped during the incident.

He also stated that, the bandits set MTN mask on fire and destroyed all the equipments attached to the MTN mask network booster during the attack.

However, efforts to reach the state police command public relations officer Asp Yazid Abubakar on the matter proved abortive by our correspondent as at the time of filing this report.
