Bala: W/Cup ticket, premier league title my target

Experienced Coach Bala Nikyu is one of the Nigerian coaches who have shown great passion and expertise in the discharge of his duties. At the moment, the former Super Falcons assistant Manager has returned as Nigeria’s U-17 Women handler after rescued Nigeria Professional Football club, Wikki Tourists of Bauchi from relegation doldrums. Ikenna Okonkwo and Eupheresia Nnodim captured his views on Gathering young girls and the task of qualifying Nigeria for 2018 U-17 Women

Championship
It hasn’t been easy but I think at the same time we are fast growing. I think we have only one person who is the goal keeper and the captain of that team who happens to be part of immediate past U-17 team. Apart from her, all others are new players. So it hasn’t been easy but bringing younger ones together seem to be much easier because they are ready to learn and of cause they are coming up very fast.

No matter how disturbed or challenged one feels, I must get the job done because if you are counting the days we have before the match you may not be able to meet up what you want. You should be able to show credibility. As at now, this is the best option we have and definitely you have to give it your best not minding the time.

My own happiness is that even the players too were not bothered when did we start or whatever no! When we left they were giving themselves that kind of assurances that coach we can win not minding we started yesterday or we started today no! They just came in and everybody is willing to play. It’s like you have seen an opportunity you never thought of having and you have to take advantage of it. That is exactly what it is to them and they did well in Ethiopia despite the fact that we had this weather problem but I have told them that since we had that problem in Ethiopia, we should be able to exercise ourselves well here in Nigeria so that everybody will agree that it was the weather that stopped us from beating them in Ethiopia. So definitely we are on cause.

My Ethiopia experience
I think as far as I’ve been travelling within the African countries; I want to say it is the best treatment that the Ethiopians gave us because you will find out that they are some of these African countries you will go and they frustrate you. Because of football they will behave funny but from the day we entered Ethiopia till the day we left, they were very friendly. When you say somebody treated you as a brother or as a friend, they did. I think we don’t even have any cause to complain of their treatment.

Ahead of return leg clash
We are prepared to play the return leg we don’t have any excuse not to defeat the Ethiopians. They gave us a fright in Addis and I’m sure they would still want to give the fight here but we don’t have any option. After they give their best, they will still give up because even in their home, they were not too exceptional for us, that is the truth they. At least, when we came back from everybody is willing to express herself, so we don’t have any problem.

Coaching Women and Men
There are no much difference. When you are in the premiership is as good as you are ready to take the grassroots. Even if it is boys or girls under 13, 14,15,16,17, all these have to do with the grassroots. If you remember too well, I think before I started going into club sides, I was taking the grassroots, for like close to ten years.
