Babangida: Jigawa well represented in Senate

It is the hope of every senatorial zone to have a senator who is trusted to protect their interests in the National Assembly. In this respect, Jigawa Northwest Senator, Alhaji Babangida Hussaini, stands tall.

Babangida Hussaini is a former Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Works. He is one of the outstanding personalities whose entry into politics enjoys popular backing in his state.

He has hit the ground running. Already, he has identified one core problem of his constituency and the North as a whole and set to tackle it. Having seen the ravages of drug abuse in the North, he immediately after his election swung into action to curtail the menace. To cut the youth off from their bad habits, Senator Babangida Hussaini is creating job opportunities for the youth in his constituency.

He said he is quite aware of the numerous challenges facing his constituents, and promised to do all he can to bring massive infrastructural and human development through empowerment programmes; for he said he wants to remain indebted to his supporters by providing dividends of democracy. Truly, he is keeping his electoral promises.

One of his outstanding qualities is the senator’s focus on women development through a series of empowerment programmes, among others, for them..

The Walin Kazaure flew the flag of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the senatorial election in 2023.

Babangida’s entry into politics was greeted with tumultuous approval because of his antecedent in the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing. As a die-hard reformer, there is the possibility of him changing the legislative regime in the National Assembly. In all his public offices, he ensures the people benefit from government policies.

Babangida’s firm stand and tenacity on issues of national importance and the ones that affect his constituency often brings out from him the face of a true statesman.

In his national assignments, he pursues equity and fairness for all Nigerians, irrespective of their ethnic and religious leanings. He always strives hard to lift his people to a higher living standard, be it in the rural area or urban centres.

Babangida’s expansive experience in the civil service had equipped him with the ability to offer sound representation to his constituents and beyond.

As a man with a passionate heart to serve, his selfless service is not restricted to his hometown or constituency alone; people in other climes or emirates also enjoy his benevolence.

Walin Kazaure is determined to use his office as a Senator of the Federal Republic to help make laws that will better the lives of the people.

One of his views is the issue of rural-urban migration. He believes that if the rural communities enjoy social amenities as well as employment opportunities, there would be no need for young persons migrating to urban centres in search of greener pastures. Therefore, his going to the Senate will ensure a legislation for the positive development of rural areas.

He improved agricultural sector to make it attractive to the people in such a way that it will become a lucrative business for all persons and for all seasons.

Babangida’s popularity made him win the senatorial position on APC platform with a wide margin against his closest opponent. He is aware of the fact that a good representative of the people does what his people want, but not what he wants, therefore, he sees himself as people’s servant not master.

Before contesting the senatorial election, the charismatic leader consulted stakeholders, family members and friends who all approved of his aspiration to represent them.

Among the awards he had won in recognition of his service to humanity, is the ‘Outstanding Leadership Award’ which he will spur him do more in the National Assembly.

Babangida had never failed in any public office he was previously assigned. When he was chairman, Jigawa State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB), he provided the enabling environment for parents and pupils to see education as a vehicle aboard which their future is insured against ignorance and poverty. His time saw the influx of children, who were hitherto out of school due to parental poverty, to schools.

Under Babangida as the executive secretary, Jigawa State Scholarship Board, Jigawa students enjoyed prompt payment of their scholarships.

Also, before he moved to federal government assignments, he had given his all to the state. His belief in education as a vehicle for societal transformation took him to Sule Lamido University at Kafin Hausa in Jigawa state, where he built lecture halls and good, motorable roads in the university for ease of movement.

Babangida’s benevolence has touched the social and academic lives of most of the state-owned schools in Jigawa. He provided potable water and state-of-the-art laboratories for science students, in addition to the construction of student hostels.

Presently, he has a foundation that is committed to giving succour to orphans by offsetting all expenses on their marriage, whether boy or girl. By this, he stands tall as a father to the youth.

As a man who sees humanity as a religion, he is preoccupied with the wellbeing of children of the downtrodden, and plans on how they could acquire education, which he sees as a weapon of emancipation for the poor and the weak in any society.

Babangida is a kind of public officeholder that Nigeria can entrust with higher national assignments in form of legislative business, in order to activate the urgent and desirable socio-economic development she craves for.

Because of his benevolence to Jigawa and Nigeria, the people of Jigawa paid him back massively in the last general election. But this is just a tip of the iceberg, Jigawa is set to renew his mandate as he continues his good works and benevolence.
