A leading aluminium company in Calabar, Cross River state that is into the production of high quality aluminium roofing sheets of different designs such as long span, step tiles and metro cops has lamented multiple taxation in the state, nothing that such levies were affecting businesses adversely. The Manager, Aify Global Aluminium Company, Mr Avemoh Sylvanus appealed to the State Governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade to come to their aid in reducing the number of taxes and levies. He made the call in his office while speaking with news men on the activities of his company for the past three years in Calabar. According to him multiple taxation discourages many investors from coming to the State to do their business and that there was need for government to address the matter urgently. He said: “ We are in Cross River state to make life easy for the people and for the past three years we have been able to expand our business, employed many State indigenes and also engaged many students on Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme ( SIWES)’. Our major challenge is that there is too much taxation in the State and we appeal to the Governor to encourage us by reducing the number of taxes and levies imposed on us. Mr. Sylvanus also said his company intends to expand its branches to all the Local Government Headquarters next year in the state to boost the economic development. The manager commended the state government for providing the enabling favourable environment for the company to strive and assured that he would continue to provide quality services in the State.
