Ayade commissions ultra-modern health facility in remote community

There was excitement in remote Uchu andYache communities of Yala local government area of Cross River state as Governor Ben Ayade commissioned an ultra modern comprehensive healthcare facility, Tuesday.

During the commissioning, the governor said he was driven by passion to meet the health needs of Cross Riverians saying  that the huge investment of the administration on healthcare services was a prove of the priority government accord health care.

Represented by his deputy, Professor Ivara Esu, the governor said the state would actualise a 100 per cent scorecard in the ongoing 2020 National Immunisation Plus Days exercise, and would also implement all national health policies of the federal government.

He charged the people to key into the vision of government and make maximum utilisation of the commissioned facility as well as take part in the immunisation exercise.

While noting that government’s presence would be felt in all communities irrespective of their location, the governor said: “we assure you that there will be more development in this part of the state, and it is on this fact that this place has been chosen for the establishment of Cross River’s most sophisticated and comprehensive Healthcare Facility.”

On her remarks, the director general of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong, commended the governor for his passion and selfless interventions, especially for people in the hard-to-reach areas of the state.

She said establishment of the facility in those communities was to curb indices of mother and child mortality, and therefore admonished members of the community to make use of the facility for their health needs.

“I want to appreciate members of this community for their support and a huge turnout for the commissioning of this ultra modern and comprehensive healthcare facility. As you all know, our dear governor, Senator Professor Ben Ayade, has invested hugely into this project. He is championing the actualisation of Universal Health coverage through intervention works such as this and the social health scheme christened ‘Ayade care’ with enrollment to commence soon across the 18 LGAs.

“I want to plead with our mothers and care givers to ensure that all our children benefit from the ongoing national immunisation exercise to kick polio out of our state, and also I urge you all to make this facility your first point of call so we can reduce the incidence of mother and child mortality.”

Also speaking, the commissioner for health, Dr Betta Edu, lauded members of the community for their cooperation with government, particularly during the construction phase of the facility, but enjoined them to prioritise the facility to attract other interventions.

The chairman of the Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Dr Stephen Odey, who spoke on behalf of the community, appreciated the unrelenting effort of the governor in reaching out to those in the rural areas with the provision of healthcare and education facilities which he said has become top priority to government.
