The director general of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, Wednesday admonished corps members to avoid every act of criminality during their service year.
He stated that the scheme is not an abode for criminal elements, but individuals of good morals that are ready to contribute their quota to the development of their host communities.
The DG stated this Tuesday while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream One Corps Members at NYSC Kwara State Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Edu local government area of the state.
He added that there is no immunity for any corps member that violates the NYSC bye-law and other laws of the country.
“Don’t consume hard drugs, avoid fraud, hooliganisn and other forms of misconduct that can lead you to trouble.
“Don’t violate the scheme’s bye-law. Avoid night travelling and respect the constituted authorities because offenders would be sanctioned,” he said.
A press statement by the acting director of Information and Public Relations of the scheme, Caroline Embu, said General Ahmed advised corps members to adhere strictly to NYSC dress code.
While presenting the camp situation report to the DG, NYSC Kwara state coordinator, Mr Joshua Onifade said a total of 1,319 corps members comprising 593 males and 726 females were registered.
He stated further that the corps members exhibited high level of discipline and they have comported themselves in an orderly manner in all their assigned duties since they arrived camp.
