Newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Dr. Ibrahim Kana said the development recorded in the industry since the beginning of the Bola Tinubu’s administration confirmed that the sector is on course to meet the vision and target of the President.
Dr. Kana affirmed that despite its financial constraints, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) have achieved tremendous reforms in its infrastructure development across the country’s airports.
Speaking during a tour of Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, the elated Perm Sec commended FAAN’s reforms so far under the leadership of its Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, whom he described as a round peg in a round hole.
Dr. Kana Ibrahim however urged the airport management authority to reconsider its planned tax and other tariff increments which he said will impact on passengers and tickets prices.
While commending the leadership of the Minister, Festus Keyamo, the Perm Sec expressed strong confidence that the ongoing transformation within Nigeria’s aviation sector will reposition the country’s development indices and increase it’s contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
He attributed the progress achieved so far to the solid structural framework at the FAAN driven by the strategic leadership of its Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku.
He emphasized that Kuku’s managerial expertise has been pivotal in enhancing operational efficiency and service delivery noting that the minister’s proactive policies and strategic direction have created an enabling environment for growth and innovation within the aviation sector.
