ATBUTH conducts eye screening on 300 journalists

Over 300 journalists in Bauchi state have undergone free eye-screening, courtesy of the Ophthalmology Department of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUH), Bauchi.
Flagging off the exercise at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi secretariat, the Deputy National President of the Union, Comrade Muktar Gidado, commended ATBUTH for extending their humanitarian services to journalists working in the state.
Comrade Gidado, who was represented by the Deputy National President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Comrade Umar Sa’idu, enjoined members of the Union to make good use of the opportunity.
In his address, the state chairman of the Union, Comrade Ibrahim Malam Goje, explained that the exercise was part of this year’s World Sight Day, with the theme “Good Sight Counts”.
Goje said the union deemed it imperative to collaborate with relevant organisations within and outside the state to improve the health status of members.
Also speaking, the head of the medical team from the Ophthalmology Department of ATBUTH, Dr Hafsat Isa, said the exercise covered eye treatment, medication and referrals.
