At last, Southeast governors resolve to work for release of Nnamdi Kanu

Governors of the five Southeast states of Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia and Anambra met on Tuesday and resolved to meet with President Tinubu to effect the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB.

The meeting of the South East Governors Forum which took place at the Government House, Enugu also resolved to meet with President Tinubu to discuss pressing issues concerning the region.

Chairman of the Forum, and governor of Imo state, Governor Hope Uzodimma who read the communique at the end of the meeting said they deliberated on how to implement the report on Security and Economic Summit reached in Owerri, Imo state on September 28, 2023.

Uzodimma announced that the Forum has constituted the burial committee of the former Abia state governor, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, which is headed by Chief Anyim Pius Anyim as the chairman, while Chief Rotimi Amaechi, former governor Rivers State will serve as the secretary.

Part of the communique reads thus: “the Forum deliberated on the reviewed report of the South East Security and economic Summit held in Owerri on the 28th September, 2023  and agreed to implement the aspects of the report pertaining to security and economic  integration  and affirmed its desire to put actionable plans on the key issues agreed.

“The Forum resolved to visit Mr. President to discuss pressing issues concerning the South East region.

“The Forum also resolved to interface with the Federal Government to secure the release of Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.”
