Arsenal heap heavy defeat on Chelsea in Premier League clash, open 3-point lead on top

Arsenal recorded their biggest win against Chelsea after thrashing the Blues 5-0 at the Emirates in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

The Gunners, now on 77 points, are temporarily four points clear of second placed Liverpool and four points ahead of Manchester City who are in third position.

A brace each from former Chelsea player Kai Havertz, Ben White and a solitary strike from Leandro Trossard, secured the big win for Mikel Arteta’s men.

Arsenal took the lead just four minutes into the game thanks to Belgian forward Trossard, who received a pass from Declan Rice and hit a low left foot strike.

In the 52nd minute a well-worked corner routine by Bukayo Saka and Odegaard teed up Rice to have a go at goal and the ball fell kindly for White, who slotted it calmly into the bottom left corner on his left foot.

Arsenal went 3-0 up on 57 minutes after an incredible curling pass from Odegaard was collected by Havertz, who lifted it beyond Chelsea keeper.

Havertz grabbed his second of the night to put Arsenal 4-0 ahead on 75 as he cushioned the ball in at the far post after receiving the ball from Odegaard.

With 20 minutes left White got his second and Arsenal’s fifth as he looped the ball over the keeper off a brilliant pass from Odegaard.
