Army warns parents against donating wards for suicide bombing

Th e Nigerian Army has appealed to religious, traditional and community leaders in the North-east to prevail on parents to stop donating their wards to Boko Haram terrorists for suicide bombing missions. A statement issued by Director, Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army Headquarters, said the appeal became expedient in view of recent revelations during interrogations of some intercepted female suicide bombers. Sign by Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, the army said it was discovered that most of these “hapless minors were donated to the terrorists sect by their heartless and misguided parents and guardians, as part of their contributions to the perpetuation of the Boko Haram terrorist’s dastardly acts against the Nigerian society and humanity”. It added that the acts of these parents and guardians were not only barbaric, but condemnable and unacceptable. “Nigerians have a responsibility and obligation to collectively mould our children and wards and defi ne a better future for them rather than condemning them to death by the criminal Boko Haram terrorists through suicide bombings”. Th e statement urged the public to be “more vigilant, security conscious and report any suspicious persons or those whose daughters or female wards are missing or have not been seen recently to security agents by calling 193 on any network”. Th e public was also reminded that the Army’s off er and reward of N500, 000 to anybody that provided information about suicide bombing, was still valid.’
