Army following due process in procurement – BPP

Director-General, Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP), Mammàn Ahmadu, has said that the Nigerian Army followed due process in its procurement process within the law. Ahmadu said this yesterday when he received the Chief of Army Staff , Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, in his office in Abuja.

According to him, the army is also ahead of other sister services in terms of ensuring compliance with procurement rules. He said: “Nigerian Army of today has a lot of knowledgeable people in administration of men and engineering. We know that there some peculiarities to military procurement. We have identified those peculiarities and we will respect them.

“We will continue to collaborate with the army in terms of giving our expertise advice and training of its personnel.” Earlier, in his remarks, the COAS said the army was an institution that complied with due process of procurement and accounting system. “We are all aware of this government intolerance to corruption and other negative vices in the financial system.

This is why we held a seminar together with BPP to trained and educate our personnel on procurement best practices and laws. “I have also directed that each corps should have procurement desk to ensure that due process in procurement is adhered to,” he said.
