Army cautions villagers as troops engage in shooting range

Commandant, Depot, Army, Zaria, Brig.-Gen. Victor Ezugwu, has warned communities of Kabama, Tohu and Karau-Karau in Sabon Gari and Giwa local government areas of Kaduna state to stay off the formation’s shooting ranges located in the villages for safety. Th e 76 Regular Recruits intake he said,would hold shooting classifi cation exercise as part of recruits training tagged “Introductory shoot practice II and Exercise Second Leg” from September 25 to October 17, 2017. He said in a statement by the formation’s spokesman, Capt. Haruna Mohammed Sani, he said the exercise would involve fi ring of live ammunition by use of small arms. Th e commandant advised the villagers to stay away from the Ranges for safety though authorities have put in place safety measure and precautions against any misfortune in order to ensure safe and hitch-free exercise. “However, residents of the aff ected communities are advised to stay away from the Range General Areas within the period of the exercise.” Ezugwu also advised the villages not panic upon seeing movement of troops and hearing sound of small arms as it was routine exercise for training of recruits
