Army assures UNIMAID authorities of maximum security

In view of continuous bombings and killings by suspected Boko Haram members, the Nigerian Army has assured authorities of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) of maximum security support. Th e Acting General Offi cer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Manu Yusufu, gave the assurances when he paid a courtesy call on the ViceChancellor of the university, Professor Ibrahim Yusuf Abubarka Njodi, at his offi ce in Maiduguri. Th e GOC, who was accompany by commanders and some principal staff offi cers from Headquarters 7 Division, sympathised with the university over the recent on the institution. Th e GOC also commended the VC for not closing the university, but appealed university community to provide security agencies with relevant information that would aid them in stemming the tide of suicide bombing in the area. Th e vice chancellor, in his response, assured the GOC of the university’s support in the ongoing war against insurgency and attributed the recent relative peace enjoyed within the campus to the Nigerian Army’s “doggedness and professional display in securing the university, Maiduguri metropolis and Borno state in general”
