Retired President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mustapha Akanbi, yesterday described the late Aare Mususlumi of Yoruba land, Chief Arisekola-Alao, as “a great asset to Islam.”
Akanbi, the pioneer chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), who spoke to reporters yesterday in Ilorin, described the demise of the late Aare as “unfortunate.”

He said: “He was an asset to Islam, he had contributed a lot to the wellbeing of Muslims; he was a great philanthropist. We pray to almighty God to forgive his sins and number him among his faithful servants. It is a great lost to Islamic community.
“He was not given to flippant talk but anything that affects the Muslim Ummah, he always played his part.”
Similarly, the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria said the demise of the deceased had created “a big vacuum that would be difficult to fill.”
The group in a statement by its national coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, said “late Arisekola remains an outstanding personality whose philanthropism transcends ethnic, religious and geographical boundaries; all in his determination to provide for the welfare of the masses and reduce the sufferings of the indigent people in the society.”
