Arewa youth tasks EFCC, el-Rufai over Eye Center land’s encroachment

Arewa Youth Movement for Good Governance has called on Kaduna state government to redouble efforts at securing National Eye Centre land from encroachment by land grabbers.
The call follows series of calls to security agencies and the Kaduna state government to rescue National Eye Center’s land from those that are bent on grabbing the government land for their parochial use.

Speaking at the end of their meeting on Sunday in Kaduna, Coordinator of Arewa Youth Movement for Good Governance, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmadu, lambasted the encroachers of the land, while calling on Governor Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai to rise to the challenge as the federal government hospital is being persecuted by purported host community.
According to Ahmadu, ‘’as I talk to you some scammers are still selling National Eye Centre lands to unsuspecting buyers at exorbitant rates, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission should do something, there is so much scam about that land and so many have been duped already.

‘’At our expanded caucus meeting, we have resolve to formally write the agency and the Kaduna state government on the need to secure the hospital, as it is the only Eye Hospital of such magnitude in the whole country’’

Meanwhile, sources close to National Eye Centre said that the hospital has concluded plans to fence the entire land to beef up security around the area, hence it had a court ruling from High Court 4 to that effect.

The group however commended effort so far made by the state government in addressing security challenges, stressing that the youths of the state would continue to support the government and security agencies in the fight against insecurity.
