Appoint interim coach for Super Eagles, Elumelu tells NFF

The NFF should appoint an interim coach for the Super Eagles ahead of next month’s 2025 AFCON qualifiers, according to former member of the NFF technical committee.

The Super Eagles head coach position has been vacant since Finidi George quit in mid-June.

Austel Elumelu was a prominent member of the NFF technical committee saddled with the responsibility of recommending coaches for appointment by the NFF executive committee.

“Appointing a good coach is not that easy, but by now we ought to have a coach for the Super Eagles,” he said.

“But since this delay, we should now appoint an interim coach as there is no time left.”

The Super Eagles will open their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign on September 7 at home against Benin before they travel to Rwanda three days later.
