Appeal Court sacks Nasarawa speaker Abdulahi 

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has sacked the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdulahi, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the judgement delivered, Tuesday, the court declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Sa’ad Ibrahim, as the validly elected member representing Umaisha/Ugya state constituency in the March 18 state assembly election.

 learnt that there had been a battle between the speaker of the state house of assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, representing Umaisha-Ugya constituency in the state assembly, and Mr Daniel Ogah Ogazi, representing Kokona East constituency, respectively, over the speakership tussle.

Blueprint correspondent gathered further that the crisis in the Nasarawa state House of Assembly had led to the emergence of two speakers, which was later resolved by the state Governor Abdulahi Sule, leaving Balarabe as the speaker but was sacked Tuesday by the appellate court.

At the time of filling out this report, the sacked speaker had yet to react to the appeal court verdict.
