APDA disowns merger talks with PDP, others

The Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) has dismissed media reports that it was in merger talks with the major opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2019 election.
A statement yesterday by the party’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr, Bayo Olumoko, described the reports as unfounded, baseless and untrue.
The party said the media reports of merger with the PDP was orchestrated by mischief makers to undermine the integrity of the party.
A national daily (not Blueprint) had reported that APDA was among the 45 political parties that would form mega alliance with the PDP to wrest power from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
He said: “For the avoidance of doubt and for the umpteenth time, the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) is not part of any merger with the PDP and is not interested in any merger for now, the party has not taken any position as it is waiting for a better alternative and will make it known to its supporters and the public.” The special adviser, who acknowledged that some leadership of political parties, including the PDP had approached it for merger, said the party was yet to align or merge with any party as it was still weighing the options.
Olumoko noted that the party was presently being repositioned across the states to provide better and more credible platform to the Nigerian electorate.
He urged the public to disregard such reports, which according to him, was the imagination of the author.
