All Progressives Congress Youths Forum (APCYF) has asked Nigerian youths to stand up as agent of change and hold those who had been elected responsible on their various promises during the electioneering campaign.
The youth believed that that young people formed the backbone of the nation and were the foundation of what the nation’s collective history represent; as a country of culturally diverse and religiously demarcated.
Addressing a press conference yesterday in Abuja, chairman of the forum, Barrister Ismaeel Ahmed, urged the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, to create an enabling environment for youths to thrive on their own.
Ahmed said the youth should not think that their participation and contribution to the success of the election marks the end of the change message, saying “taking part to take charge does not end now as young people must be patient to see the dividends of change. We must also be vigilant to ensure that the agents of change are accountable to their promises.
He said: “Young Nigerians on social media, warriors of the facebook and twitter also stood guard to engage the public and protect the message of change. They took on the mantle of leadership in a domain that only they could navigate and because of the today, our country is on track to becoming greater, stronger, more accountable and prosperous than it has ever been.”
