APC wins 19 out of 24 state Assembly seats in Gombe

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken over the leadership as the majority in the Gombe state House of Assembly, having 19 seats out of the 24 , while the People’s Democratic Party has five seats.

In the out-going assembly, the All Progressives Congress had 8 members, while the People’s Democratic Party had 16 members.

The APC won in all 11 local government areas except Billiri and Nafada, as well as one member from Shongom.

Another twist was the election of female law makers into the hallowed chamber, where they have not been elected before.

Although 18 female contestants vied for the legislative seats, only two were lucky to be elected to represent their people.

The two female members elected are Rabi Daniel of Billiri East Constituency and Asma’u Iganus, Representing Shongom Constituency.

The Gombe State House of Assembly has 24 members.

All 11 local governments produce two law makers each, except Akko and Yamaltu Deba, which has three slots each because of their population.
