APC responsible for failure of LG autonomy bill– PDP

The Benue state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Monday described as most unfortunate a statement credited to the Benue chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in which it accused the Benue state House of Assembly and its speaker, Titus Uba, of scuttling passage of the Local Government Autonomy Bill.

APC had in a statement signed by the publicity secretary,  Daniel Morgan  Ihomon, labeled Uba as an enemy of the people by kicking against local government autonomy.

The APC also said the Benue state House of Assembly’s vote against local government autonomy showed the total disconnect between the assembly members and the plight of people at the grassroots, which they are supposed to represent.

APC said the act showed that members of the current Benue state House of Assembly dominated by the PDP deliberately refused to have anything positive to do with history and posterity which ironically is the desire of every public official.

Reacting to the statement, the publicity secretary of the PDP, Bemgba Iortyom, said the party in the state considers the comments by APC to be motivated by politics.

The PDP described the comments as pathetic and ineffective, weapon against the weight of facts which place the blame squarely at the doorsteps of APC for the failure of the Local Government Autonomy Bill.
