Barely 48 hours after the commencement of membership of All Progressive Congress (APC) across the country, the exercise is yet to begin in Plateau state.
Our correspondent, who went round some major designated electoral polling units in Jos North LGA, where the party had planned to use for the membership registration, observed empty spaces with virtually no personnel and materials for the exercise.
However, at some units intending party members, mainly youth and male adults, were seen in groups waiting for the APC registration officers. In some areas, the awaiting intending members were also seen enlisting their names with two passport photographs in the hope that soon the materials would arrive for the exercise.
Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, one of those waiting for the membership registration, told our reporter that they were determined to become party members.
He said: “You can see we all gathered here, and we will continue to come until materials are brought, and we are registered. To us, the delay is not a bad thing; APC is a good party, which is why we are eager to get registered.”
The situation, it was gathered, was the same in Langtang, Kanam, and Bassa.
In his brief comment over the telephone, the State Secretary of the APC Steering Committee, Hon. Ibrahim Dasuki Salihu Nakande, said “we have just finished the distribution of materials, and people will be registered.-
The party said the exercise would commence today.
