APC lawmakers now majority in Edo Assembly, party leadership writes speaker 

The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Edo state, has alerted the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, drawing his attention to the majority of its members in the parliament.

The letter indicated that the APC assumed majority status with 13 members to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which has 11.

It said the APC increased its numbers following the defection of 

Hon Bright Iyamu, Orhionmwon II, from PDP to APC, Hon Richard Edosa, representing Oredo West constituency on the platform of Labour Party has also decamped to APC.

Others include, Hon. Chief Sunday Ojiezele, Esan South-East constituency who decamped from PDP to APC and Hon Roland Okogbe, Akoko-Edo II, from PDP to APC.

The APC added that it would at the appropriate time, to notify the Assembly speaker of the consequential effect of the present reality in the House.

Speaker Agbebaku of the PDP who read the letter during plenary on Tuesday, acknowledged the majority status of the APC and wished the defectors well.

He said: “Distinguished members, you just heard of the letter that was sent to me from the APC in Edo state.

“So, going by this letter it means APC now has a majority in the House. I want to wish the decampees well in their endeavours.”
