APC jubilates as 2 Reps dump AA for party

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed joy over defection of two members of the House of Representatives from the Action Alliance (AA) to the party.

Defection of the two members, Hon. Uju Chima, and Hon. Obi Chigozie, all from Imo state was announced by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila during Thursday’s plenary, with Governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma, former Governor of the state, Senator Rochas Okorocha, National Organising Secretary of the APC, Emmanuel Ibediro and a few others on ground.

The APC, through Ibediro described the defection as a good harvest for the party. 

“For us in the APC, today is a happy day, because we are here to harvest,” the national organising secretary stated at a media briefing just after the formal announcement.

According to him, decision of the two lawmakers to join the APC was “an endorsement of the good things the party is doing, the good things President Muhammadu Buhari is doing, and we congratulate and welcome them into the party”, stressing that there are no late comers in the APC.

Also speaking, the defectors separately explained that they left the AA due to plethora of litigation as well as division within the party.

“I took the decision after due consultation, and following persistent infighting and litigations in the AA. I am now a member of the APC,” Hon. Chigozie stated.

On his part, Hon. Chima who said there had been an existing alliance between AA and the APC, and that as it is today, “Imo state has actually been conquered by the APC, and there is need to return home.”
