APC assembles legal team against PDP

Ahead of possible legal battles between the major political parties in the presidential election, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for a meeting of its legal team to be held on Wednesday (today) in the Abuja.


It was also learnt that the main opposition People Democratic Party (PDP) had held a secret meeting with its legal team on Monday to identify all the loopholes during the presidential election before the party rejected the results declared so far.
Blueprint exclusively gathered that the Legal Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council sent out the notice of an emergency meeting on Tuesday.


The venue of the meeting according to a reliable source is the APC Presidential Campaign Council Secretariat, Herbert Macaulay Way, CBD, Abuja.


Blueprint further gathered that the party mandated the Deputy Director Legal, APC Presidential Campaign Council, Prof Mamman Lawan Yusufari, to immediately convene the emergency meeting.


The source said the meeting will “discuss crucial issues pertaining to the 2019 presidential election and prepare for any likely legal issues arising therefrom. 


The message sent to the legal team members read: “Members of the Legal Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council are hereby invited to an emergency meeting of the Directorate on Wednesday 27 February 2019 at 4pm.


“The Directorate is to discuss crucial issues pertaining to the 2019 presidential election and prepare for any likely legal issues arising therefrom.”
