Gunmen Sunday night attacked Porsche Nightclub, Oba, Idemili North local government area, Anambra state, killing seven fun-seekers, including two members of local vigilante.
A source told Blueprint that the gunmen beheaded one of the security operatives and chopped off the foot of another after which they made away with the severed bodies.
The source said the gunmen came to kidnap the owner of the club, but were resisted by security men attached to the club. They then diverted their target at the security and others.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Anambra state command, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the attack of operatives of local vigilante at the nightclub, said the operatives had restored peace in the area.
“Yes, the incident happened. Our men were alerted and they quickly moved to the scene of the incident, but the gunmen had already fled.
“Our men have recovered the bodies of the vigilante operatives who were fatally wounded, while others sustained various degrees of injury. We have also fully deployed our men to Oba, and operation is ongoing. So far, no arrest has been made,” he said.
