The Vice Chancellor, Tansian University, Umunya, Anambra state, Professor Eugene Nwadialor, Tuesday, said the institution would be graduating a total of 380 undergraduate and 34 postgraduate students at its 13 convocation ceremony.
Nwadialor, who announced this at university convocation press briefing, explained that the event holding on March 29 would also see 3 of the graduands been bestowed with first class honours, 136 students receiving Second Class Upper Division, while 237 would bag Second Class Lower division and 4-Third class.
Others included three postgraduate diploma (PGD) and 31 Masters degree students from across various departments, while honorary degrees would be conferred on Chief Sylvester Okonkwo, the Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; the Traditional Ruler of Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Igwe Alex Onyido, the Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Pius Okoye, and others.
According to him, First Class students would receive automatic employments from the institution aside other prizes to be won by various students for performing excellently in their respective faculties, departments and courses.
He added that other activities marking the convocation would be a public lecture focusing on Artificial intelligence, and tree planting, including foundation laying, commissioning and naming of projects holding on March 28, 2025, N5 billion fund raising for infrastructural development under the chairmanship of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, a former House of representatives member.
He stressed the university commitment towards enhancing the capacities of the students through teaching and learning, research and innovation so as to make them employers of labour upon graduation, just as they had improved the academic environment and welfare of teaching and non teaching staff for effective teaching and learning.
